A 16 oz bottle can contain around 32 tablespoons or 96 teaspoons.
A 32 oz bottle is capable of holding roughly 64 tablespoons or 192 teaspoons.
What is the shelf life of the elderberry syrup, and does it require refrigeration?
The elderberry syrup is best used within three months of its production date. It requires refrigeration to preserve its quality over time, as it contains no preservatives and the honey is kept raw to retain its beneficial enzymes. Despite this, laboratory tests confirm that it remains safe to transport without refrigeration.
Is it okay to freeze elderberry syrup?
Yes, elderberry syrup can be frozen without any problems. We freeze our bottles for transport during the summer. It's crucial to pour out a few doses from the bottle initially to avoid overflow from expansion. Freezing does not affect the syrup's effectiveness.
I left my elderberry syrup out all night. Is it spoiled?
Your elderberry syrup should still be good. Although leaving it out overnight won't spoil the syrup, it might slightly reduce its shelf life.
Can I combine elderberry syrup with other foods or drinks?
Absolutely! Just be careful not to heat the syrup above 100 degrees, as this could degrade the beneficial enzymes in the raw honey. However, this won't impact the elderberry components. Our syrup is tasty by itself, but feel free to mix it into other foods or beverages without diminishing its effectiveness.
Why is elderberry syrup not recommended for children under two years old?
Our syrup contains raw honey, which is typically not recommended for infants.
Will children like this elderberry syrup, even if they disliked other brands?
Our elderberry syrup is lighter and more fluid compared to the thicker commercial varieties, making it exceptionally palatable. The addition of honey enhances its sweetness.
Is elderberry syrup safe during pregnancy or while nursing?
It's important to consult with your OB-GYN first, but many pregnant and nursing mothers have safely used our elderberry syrup. Historically, there have been no reported adverse effects from elderberry during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
